How do they price art?

citation
Hey everyone! Over the years I've been asked many times, "how do they price their works"? A lot of people new to collecting art can find it hard to believe the prices of pieces from different artists, and how they come to those numbers. Why is one artists little painting worth more than another artists sculpture?, or why is a charcoal drawing priced higher than a big oil painting?

A lot of collectible art is priced for many different reasons, and one of these is who the artist is. If the artist is famous, obviously their art is in demand purely for the namesake and popularity of the artist, which in turn makes it collectible. If an artist has been shown in several major galleries their works will be more popular due to the exposure they have had to the art world. One other way an art piece can be valued more than maybe a larger or more extravagant piece is due to the artist being deceased. When a popular artist passes away, most if not all of their art pieces become instantly collectable, and the little doodles and sketches never before seen can become worth a lot of money due to all the above circumstances. Art can be priced due to how long the artist took to complete it as well as what was used to create the piece. We at Trada will always explain why any of our pieces are priced they way they are, and we have been in the business of high end collectable art for a long time. When you come to Trada Art Studios, you can always count on quality and professional curators who will make sure your happy with your investment.
